About JobPayFacts
JobPayFacts answers one question quickly: what does this job pay here? Every page shows average and median pay, the pay range, and how a state or city compares with the rest of the country, using official wage data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Why government data
Many salary sites rely on numbers that users report themselves, or on job ads. Our figures come from the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey, which collects payroll data from about 1.1 million employer locations over three years. It covers about 830 jobs across all 50 states, D.C. and hundreds of metro areas.
What we publish
- A page for every job BLS publishes nationally, with pay by state and metro area.
- Pages for a job in a state or metro area where BLS published reliable numbers and enough people work in that job. We skip combinations with missing or very uncertain data rather than publish thin pages.
- State, metro area and category overviews.
